Explore woodland and heathland on this undulating walk through the Surrey Hills, stopping at Blackheath War Memorial Cross standing proud on Rosemary Hill. The cross was erected in 1920 in memorial to those lost in the Great War and was funded by public subscription. It cross marks another more surprising bit of history; it is believed that pre-1066 the local Saxon Thanes would gather in what was known as the 'Meeting of the Blackheath Hundred'. Perhaps they also enjoyed the stunning view of St Martha’s Hill. An undulating walk with some longish slopes and some stiles. May be muddy in places. This is a picturesque walk so we will walk at a pace at which everybody can enjoy the scenery.4.7mile / 7.6km
